PRAYING TOGETHER
30 Day Prayer Partnership
One of our core spiritual rhythms here at the Vineyard is prayer partnership. We encourage everyone to engage this simple but nourishing rhythm for 30 days. Once the 30 day rhythm is complete, we encourage you to seek the Lord on your next step. Perhaps you start another 30 day rhythm with the same partner, or perhaps you connect with a new partner, or perhaps you make yourself available for someone who needs a partner. Perhaps you take a break. The reason we choose 30 days specifically is to give the process a definitive beginning and end. This intentional ‘beginning and end’ tends to keep the rhythm vibrant and engaging… and prevents it from slipping into more of a dull or lifeless routine.
The Basics
WHO - We encourage you to partner with someone you consider to be a good friend - someone you trust. It can be your spouse, a good friend at church, someone at work, or even in another town. Parents - you might even consider partnering with your kids. If you need a partner - you can sign up for one here.
WHAT - Create some time together (anywhere from a few minutes… to maybe 30min-1hr over coffee) and pray for each other, for someone else, as the Spirit leads you, with our church, closing with the Lord’s Prayer. (More on this below.)
WHEN - We encourage a ‘baseline minimum’ of meeting 2 times a week for the 30 days. If you connect more frequently than that, that’s great! The goal is to establish and maintain a prayer connection. Connecting for just a couple minutes over the phone each weekday has also proved to be beneficial and doable. The important thing is to clarify the plan and stick to it.
WHY - New steps take us to new places.
Praying in Agreement
What Do We Pray For?
Each Other. Find something that each person wants to focus on for the 30 days. What is your one prayer? Pray about it when you get together and separately throughout the week.
Someone Else. How can you bless someone else by praying over them and for them?
As the Holy Spirit Leads. Create some room to pray as the Spirit leads. Listen first - and pray as you sense His leading.
With the Church. The prayer of our church family in 2025 is this:
”Lord, we ask for the opportunity to meet people:
- In the Baton Rouge area…
- Who we do not know…
- Who live disconnected from You.
We want to:
- Channel Your Presence,
- Serve them well,
- Help them connect with You,
- and baptize them into the Kingdom here at the Vineyard.
We ask in the Name of Jesus, knowing You will respond with wisdom and generosity. Amen”
Closing in the Lord’s Prayer. Pray through the Lord’s Prayer together slowly. This will allow each of you to connect with God and the Global Church as you participate in the prayer Jesus modeled. Below you’ll find a PDF we’ve created to help you use the Lord’s Prayer as a reflective meditation to deepen your connection with God and your prayer partner.
