BIBLE READING

Welcome to an intentional space designed to help us gather around the life-giving habit of connecting with God - and each other - through the Bible.

If we’re honest - reading the Bible consistently (all the time) is difficult. Even those who live spiritually inspiring lives have their own ebbs and flows in the consistency of this spiritual habit.

We created this page for two reasons:

  1. We know that we are more consistent in our habits when we do things together.

  2. We also know our lives are enriched when we do things together!

For 2024 - we are offering two different reading plan options that will officially begin on Ash Wednesday: February 14, 2024.

Bible-In-A-Year Bookclub
Beginning Wednesday, February 14th we will journey through the Bible together with our Bible-In-A-Year Bookclub. We will follow the reading plan provided by the BibleProject - and support our bookclub friends with in-person and digital interaction as we read together throughout the year. You can pre-register for the bookclub by sending a quick email to Pastor Allen at allen@vineyardbr.org.

2024 Listening Together Plan
This reading plan follows a format of 1-chapter-a-day, 5-days-a-week and encourages the S.O.A.P. method of journaling detailed below. You can sign up for a text message reminder that will send you a link for each day’s reading by texting @vbrbible to the number 81010.

As you read and listen, we encourage you to use the S.O.A.P. method of writing down what God is saying through His Word:

Scripture: As you read the chapter for the day – Find a verse or two that were meaningful to you and write them down.
Observation: What is God pointing out in the verse(s) you found? What is God Saying? What did you learn?
Application: How can you make the verse(s) personal? What is something you can do today to apply it to your life?
Prayer: Write out a prayer to the Lord.  Ask Him to help you with the application, or to reveal more about the text, or to find ways to share what you are learning with others.

That’s it! Start short. Keep it simple. Be consistent... and patient. God promises that those who seek Him will find Him. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing from the Word of God.
